ОРТОДОНТСКИ МИНИИМПЛАНТИ

What are mini-implants?

Orthodontic mini-implants, also known as Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), are small titanium screws placed into the jawbone during orthodontic treatment. They serve as a fixed anchor that allows us to move specific teeth with precision, without affecting others.

Why do we use mini-implants?

In some cases, traditional anchorage from other teeth is not enough to move teeth predictably. Mini-implants offer stable and direct support, making it possible to:

✔️ Close spaces between teeth ✔️ Retract front teeth without shifting molars ✔️ Correct deep bites ✔️ Level a canted occlusal plane (uneven bite line) ✔️ Help erupt impacted teeth (like canines) ✔️ Avoid unnecessary extractions

How are they placed?

The placement of a mini-implant is quick, minimally invasive, and nearly painless. It is performed in the dental office under local anesthesia and takes about 5–10 minutes.

No cutting or stitches are needed. You can return to your daily routine right after the procedure.

What are the advantages?

✅ Allow for faster and more efficient treatment ✅ Enable precise tooth movements ✅ Often help avoid tooth extractions ✅ Do not rely on patient cooperation ✅ Are easily removed once treatment is complete

Are there any risks?

🔸 There is a small risk of irritation or inflammation, but this is rare with good hygiene. 🔸 In rare cases, a mini-implant might become loose and need to be repositioned. 🔸 Good oral hygiene is essential to prevent complications around the mini-implant.

Who can benefit from mini-implants?

Most patients can benefit from mini-implants, but their use depends on the individual case, bone quality, and treatment goals. In growing patients, we evaluate whether the jawbone is developed enough to support a mini-implant.

Mini-implants are a powerful tool in modern orthodontics, helping us achieve results that were once difficult or impossible.
